The Advanced Whitewater Seminar took place this month on beautiful snowy day. Driving up to the Bruno Mountain section of the N. Santiam we had heavy fluries, however, just like every other AWS this winter, we ended up with sunny skies at the put-in. With lower flows, about 800 cfs, we had a nicely controlled day on the river. Most of our time was spend working on boofing, surfing and generally trying to catch smallest eddies and make the hardest moves on the river. The group has really progressed tremendously since our first class together in October. Since then we’ve paddled the N. Santiam(Packsaddle – Spencer’s), Bull Run(twice), the Hood River(Tucker-Marina) along with several pool sessions/stroke workouts. I’ve had so much teaching this class, as it’s not often I get to paddle Class 3 while teaching, much less with such fun, motivated students. If you’re interested in joining one of our upcoming seminar classes, give me a call at the office, 503.772.1122 or visit our website, Northwest River Guides. -Dave
