This month’s OKCC Beginner Progression Session was a blast.  About 15 paddlers turned out for what ended up being a great day on the Sandy River.  Meeting at Dodge Park and after gauging the skill level of the group, we paddled the Revenue Bridge-Dodge section, rather than the planned Dodge-Oxbow Run.  With such a large group, we split in two, with Dick Sisson leading the first group and myself taking the second.    I got to meet and paddle with a great bunch of folks.  We surfed wherever we could and really enjoyed the boulder garden rapids.  Just a little sun peaked through the clouds and with a great low flow on the Sandy River I reminded about jsut how much I love this river.  30 minutes from Portland and a true whitewater gem.  All in all, it was one of the most purely enjoyable days I have had on the river.      -Dave, Northwest River Guides
