Join eNRG Kayaking in supporting Rios Lodge with a family-friendly international adventure. Participants fly into San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO) year round. Rios Lodge provides round-trip transportation daily from partner hotels or airport pickups in San Jose.
Rios Lodge Rafting Details
Tropical whitewater rafting adventure: Come explore the best whitewater rafting river in Costa Rica on the Rio Pacuare! This whitewater trip to Rios Lodge is a family-friendly experience into the tropical rainforest on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica and consists mostly of class II-III+/IV whitewater.
We recommend a four-night stay at the world famous Rios Lodge (formerly Rios Tropicales) to experience the world class zip line, yoga / sun decks, waterfall & garden hikes, and world class cuisine. There is a (1km- 25 min) hike in/out option from the lodge for anyone not ready to run the more challenging lower gorge of the Pacuare River. They offer a multitude of free daily activities at the lodge and even have wifi in the common areas!
Extensions before or after the trip (beach, hot springs, cloud forest) are available through our reservations office: reservations@rioslodge.com.
Prep For Your Trip
AFTER BOOKING:
Sign online waivers and share them with your fellow party members. Our cost excludes international airfare, but includes everything else starting with your airport transfer, so once you have your plane ticket we will take care of the rest. Our fabulous office in Costa Rica can answer any other logistical questions you might have.
WHAT TO BRING:
Summer clothes & bathing suit! We will provide an in depth packing list once you have signed up.
WHERE TO GO:
San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO).
ARRIVAL TIME:
Airport shuttles are easy to and from our downtown hotel (and taxis are safe and easy from the airport). We can also coordinate a private transport for you with advanced notice.
WHAT WE PROVIDE:
Hotels in San Jose (if needed), all transport to and from San Jose, all meals & accommodations at the lodge (eco, deluxe or suites available at different rates), bilingual guides, rafting in & out (kayak rentals are extra), and all activities at the lodge.
WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED:
Drinks at the bar, and tips to river guides and hotel staff.

CUSTOMIZATION & YOUTH PROGRAMS:
In 2026/2027, several youth conservation and paddling programs will be running this fall in November, December, and January 2027. There will be a Thanksgiving week development training camp for beginning youth (10-15 yrs old), an Int./Adv. Camp (13-17) with Nick Wingston, and a custom program with Tyler Westfall (current USA K1 men's slalom national champion / PWRC elite coach). He will be leading, coaching, and facilitating a program on the Sarapaqui, Pacuare, and Peji Baye Rivers the first week of Jan 2027.

RESTRICTIONS:
You must be 18 years of age or older, unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. Further, you must agree to Amazing Vacations terms and conditions to book the trip.
WEATHER:
Trips run rain or shine, except during extreme conditions including lightning, high winds, and excessive smoke onsite.
ATTENDANCE:
We require at least 4 participants to make this trip run. If we have not met this threshold 60 days out we will cancel the trip.
IF YOU CANCEL:
Please be aware that most travel bookings are non-refundable and cancelled bookings will incur charges. These charges can be up to 100% of the cost of the booking, regardless of whether travel has commenced. Where we incur any liability for a cancellation fee or charge for any booking which you cancel, you agree to indemnify us for the amount of that fee or charge. We do not prorate tuition for days missed due to illness, injury, or inappropriate behavior.
IF WE CANCEL:
eNRG Kayaking reserves the right to postpone or cancel any trip due to inclement weather, under enrollment, or other unforeseen circumstances, and will issue a full refund in this instance.
