FAQs

The amount of clothing depends on weather and time of year. If you have questions, feel free to contact us. Please bring water, sunscreen, clothing that can get wet, wind/rain jacket, and a change of clothing. Please wear shoes that stay on.

Rapid classification is an important metric to set expectations for your river experience. These classifications are based on a combination of difficulty and danger, subject to discrepancies and individual perceptions. Use this as a guide to select a river trip that looks the most fun to you.

Class I

Moving water with riffles. Easy, clear route with minimal to no maneuvering. Our Willamette River kayak and paddle board Tours and Rentals are perfect for this type of water.

Class II

Open passages of moving water with some small waves and rocks generally associated with a small elevation decrease. One or two moves required. Our Scenic Half Day Santiam and Clackamas trips are perfect entry-points into whitewater paddling.

Class III

Narrower passages with irregular large waves rocks, drops, and eddies generally associated with a noticeable elevation decrease. Multiple precise moves required. Our Santiam Whitewater Half Day stretch perfectly embodies the thrill of class III whitewater.

Class IV

Long and powerful rapids requiring precise maneuverability with little room for error. Large waves, holes, and rocks present significant hazards along with sharp elevation decreases. Adrenaline Seekers will enjoy our Bruno Mountain Full Day and Deshutes Multi-Day adventures.

Class V

Long and violent rapids requiring complex and constant maneuverability with no room for error. Congested and steep routes create significant life hazards.

Class VI

Nearly impossible rapids for experts only. High risk when it comes to loss of life, not rafted commercially.

Please arrive arrive up to 15 minutes prior to your start time.

Trips meet at the takeout of the chosen river run (See map above). Exact locations available on individual pages and in your confirmation email.

eNRG provides local guides, a shuttle from the takeout to the put-in, paddles, PFDs, helmets, boats, and an unforgettable experience! Wetsuits, splash tops/bottoms, and booties are available upon request.

While our guides are well compensated for their skills, if you feel like you’ve received an exceptional experience – tipping is always appreciated thanking them for their work. For reference, a percentage-based average for gratuities is generally between 10%-20% of the total trip cost.

Rafting can be enjoyed in most weather as long as one dresses appropriately. Therefore, trips run rain or shine, except during extreme conditions including lightning, high winds, and excessive smoke onsite.

The pacific northwest is blessed with great water all year round. That said, those who want a more action-packed adventure should try rafting during the spring when rain and snow melt bring the flows up. In general, summer flows are great for families and those interested in a more relaxing experience. That said, with many sections to choose from, exhilarating whitewater can be found all summer long.

Every participant in your party needs to fill out on online waiver here.
