eNRG Kayaking’s Whitewater 102 class is the perfect opportunity to refine skills and build confidence for whitewater paddling. Located less than 30 minutes from Portland, the Clackamas river provides the ideal setting to safely learn and practice skills with our ACA certified instructors. By the end of this course you should feel comfortable paddling and maneuvering on a class II river. Whether you are a beginner looking to take the next step, or a seasoned paddler in need of a quick refresh, this course is a great way to build confidence on the river.
The day begins at eNRG Kayaking’s Oregon City shop on the Willamette River. We will outfit all participants with kayaks, paddles, and paddle gear before heading out. From there we will head to the Carver put-in on the Clackamas river. The morning will be spent reviewing basic strokes, rescue techniques, and practice river maneuvering. As we progress we will work on more advanced techniques such as surfing, large ferries, and catching small eddies. We will stop for sack lunch at Riverside park, and then continue down towards Clackamette park. If time allows, we will cover basic river rescue techniques and practice rolling. The day will conclude with a debrief and personalized next steps for each paddler.
